Introduction Silicon Carbide Graphite Crucible
As we all know, the traditional graphite crucible has the characteristics of heat resistance, corrosion resistance, easy to be oxygenized, water absorption, fragility, Crack/break under large temperature difference, etc. It has been used for some industries such as metallurgy for a long time and can not be easily replaced in a short time. But in recent years, there is a new type crucible made of silicon carbide and graphite has coming out and started to lead a trend with unique characteristics. This silicon carbide graphite crucible can be used for a very long time under the temperature of 1200 degree Celsius without Oxygen because of the specificity of its material. Comparing with the traditional graphite crucibles, it can keep a complete shape if sudden changing from 1200 degree Celsius to the normal temperature, without any cracks or breaks which simply means no pollution or damages to the melts. Besides these, It is also with water absorption and good thermal conductivity.
You can use this kind of silicon carbide SIC graphite crucible to smelt non ferrous metals like Cu, Ag, Au.
Characteristics Silicon Carbide Graphite Crucible
Comparing between traditional graphite crucible and siliconized graphite crucible, it’s not hard to find out the main reason that it can be so acceptable. This silicon carbide graphite crucible fixed the Oxidation problem that traditional graphite can not solved. Based on our Oxidation tests, usually the traditional graphite crucible can be used at 1800 degree Celsius for about 90 days while siliconized graphite crucible can be used at 1200 degree Celsius for many years without Oxidation. It turned out that silicon carbide graphite crucibles had no changes after 50 times tests in oxygen at a temperature of 1200 degree Celsius nor cracks under large temperature difference.
After taking out from a high temperature muffle furnace, the silicon carbide graphite crucible can be cooled down from 1200℃ to room temperature within 20 mins at normal temperatures and pressures.
